As part of our ongoing review of Mann’s serials collection, we are posting a list of possible serials cancellations for your review. Mann Library received a cut to its acquisitions budget last year, and we do not yet know what our budget will be for the 2010-2011 academic year. Since our subscriptions must be renewed in July for the 2011 calendar year, we need your assistance now to make these important collection decisions.

It probably seems like we are constantly cutting serials subscriptions, but that may not be a bad thing! We are trying to achieve a balance that allows us to add key new journals in important areas of research for CALS and CHE in spite of budget reductions. The Mann collection is a living and growing collection, and in order to stay relevant and current, we need to weed out some of the titles that were selected many years ago or titles that have not lived up to expectations. In some cases, we will cancel print and subscribe to the e-journal. This realizes some savings, without loss of content. In other cases, we are proposing cancelling subscriptions outright.

Mann selectors use a variety of criteria to determine the value of a journal to the Cornell community, but in the end, you can be most helpful in guiding our decisions. We ask that you review this list of titles we are recommending for cancellation. During the open feedback period, send us your comments using the online comment form at the top and bottom of the webpage listing the titles. Please send us your feedback by May 28th.

We welcome your input, and we appreciate your support of Mann Library.
