Color Plotters

Important: Please ask the Operator to check your settings before you print. Additional adjustments may be necessary.

To print from the Plotters, please refer to the steps listed below and feel free to ask one of the student operators on duty if you are unsure of anything. Mann has three Canon plotters which work with either Macs or Windows computers.

Canon iPF 9000s Plotter Printer

Pricing is as follows:

$12.00 per linear foot VendaPlotter III - a Canon iPF 9000s plotter with glossy paper. Maximum width is 60".

$ 8.00 per linear foot VendaPlotter II - a Canon iPF 8000s plotter with semi-glossy paper. Maximum width is 42".

$ 4.00 per linear foot VendaPlotter I - a Canon iPF 8000s plotter with plain paper. Maximum width is 42".

Printing to a plotter can be time-consuming. It often takes some time for the plotter to initialize and test all its print cartridges, and once the poster is finished printing the plotter waits several minutes for the ink to dry on the paper. Occasionally, several people may be waiting to print posters, especially when assignments are due. Therefore we ask that you give yourself ample time to use the plotter, and don't try to print something if the lab is about to close. We do not allow any jobs to start after one half hour prior to closing; during unusually heavy use times when there are many poster "jobs" lined up on the network, access to the plotters may be restricted an hour or more before Mann Library closes. Since it's first-come, first-serve, coming in as early as possible may help you to "beat the rush".

Use of these machines requires the assistance of the Lab Operator. Our payment options page has detailed information on ways for paying for plotter jobs.

Here are some basic tips on printing to the Canon plotters with Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat:

MS PowerPoint:

File --> Print --> Printer name --> Properties

In “Properties” under “Page Setup” tab, choose “Custom Size” in “Page Size” drop down menu.

“Custom Size Settings” window pops up, set “Media Size” to the desired size, then “OK”. Click OK on the Properties window.

Check “Scale to fit paper” box on “Print” window and then “OK”

Adobe Acrobat Professional:

Almost exactly the same steps as above, except there is no “Scale to fit paper” option to be checked in Acrobat.
