Bissett Collaborative Center

The Bissett Collaborative Area is located on the second floor (map it) of Mann Library. It is a customizable space for students to work collaboratively on academic projects and assignments.

Equipment

The space includes 9 configurable work stations. The following equipment is available:

  • LCD screens wth VGA connector cables (two 50" Panasonic built-ins, four 40" NEC on portable "Lollypop" stands, and three 40" NEC on carts);
  • Mac Mini dual-boot computers* (with carts),
  • DVD/VCR Player/Recorder (with carts),
  • Directional Speakers (with carts),
  • Whiteboards,
  • Partitions,
  • Chairs, and
  • Tables

*Wireless keyboards and mice can be checked out from the first floor Circulation Desk (map it). Make note of which cart you are using before requesting paired keyboards/mice. Dry erase markers and VGA Adapter cables (DVI for MacBook Pro, MiniDVI for MacBook and MicroDVI for MacBook Air) can also be charged out at the Circulation Desk.

Software

The Mac mini computers with the 40" LCD carts are dual-boot (Windows & Mac OS) and have:

  • Google Earth
  • Sketchup
  • FireFox
  • JMP
  • Manifold

The Mac (OSX 10.5) side has...

  • iLife 08 (iMovie, iPhoto, iWeb, GarageBand, iDVD)
  • iWork (Pages, Keynote, Numbers)

Policies

Collaborative work areas and equipment are available on a first-come, first served basis. Usage is limited to academic related group activities only. Talking and group work is encouraged, but please be considerate of those working around you. Mann Library computing policies also apply.

Support

Help with use of equipment can be requested Mon. - Fri. 8am - 5pm at the first floor Circulation Desk (255-3296). If you plan on using the equipment in the evening or on a weekend, please stop by and request assistance ahead of time during these periods.
