Disciplinary Research Support
Mann Library offers a variety of research consultation services for students, faculty, and staff. These are in-depth, customized, one-on-one meetings to discuss resources and search strategies for assignments, papers, presentations, theses, and doctoral dissertations.
Citation Management
Citation management tools allow a user to organize and retrieve information, such as citations for books, articles, and websites, by interfacing with library databases. The citation manager then works with word processing software to insert properly formatted footnotes or citations into a paper and create a properly formatted bibliography.
GIS
Mann Library provides a variety of GIS support services for Cornell students, staff, and faculty. We can help you find and use data, troubleshoot GIS software (such as QGIS, ArcMap, or ArcGIS Pro), plan a geospatial analysis, or refer you to other GIS experts on campus. We also have information about GIS software availability and licensing, tutorials, workshops, academic courses, GIS listservs, and getting help at the Mann Library GIS Help Desk. Mann Library also hosts CUGIR, the Cornell University Geospatial Information Repository.
Cornell Data Services
Cornell Data Services is a collaborative, campus-wide organization that assists with creating and implementing data management plans, applying best practices for managing data, and finding data-related services at any stage of the research process.
Evidence Synthesis Service
Cornell University Library offers a systematic review service to research staff, graduate students, and faculty at Cornell.
Other Consultation Services
Other cross-campus consulting services offer walk-in hours in the Consultation Area on the first floor of Mann Library.
Cornell Center for Social Sciences – Research Support (CCSS-RS)
CCSS-RS is a Cornell support unit that provides a full continuum of data-related services to assist the social science research and education community with focused and multidisciplinary research and learning endeavors. CCSS-RS consultants respond to email (CCSS-ResearchSupport@cornell.edu) and telephone (255-1986) inquiries regarding both statistical and qualitative data analysis software. These services are available to all Cornell faculty, staff, and students doing faculty-directed academic research.
Cornell Statistical Consulting Unit (CSCU)
CSCU is a research support unit whose mission is to support Cornell faculty, staff, and students with study design, data analysis, and the use of statistics in their research.
Cornell Writing Centers (CWC)
The CWC provides support for individuals at any stage of the writing process. It is a free resource available to all of Cornell—undergraduate students, pre-freshman and high schoolers in summer programs, graduate students, staff, faculty, and alumni—for nearly any kind of writing project: applications, presentations, lab reports, essays, papers, and more.
Graduate Writing Service (GWS)
Cornell post-graduates (graduate students, professional students, post-docs, and faculty) can work with Graduate Writing Service tutors to refine and develop strategies for drafting and revising writing projects and teaching materials.
